Our studio sits at the edge of the Pinery, a short walk from the National Forest boundary. Visitors are welcome by appointment — coffee, sketchbooks, and a wood stove included.

Tucked into the south-facing slope of Larchwood Ridge, the studio overlooks the meadow that gives the brand its name. Look for the cedar-shingled roof and the long stone wall.

01. What does a first consultation look like?
A 60-minute video or in-person conversation, free of charge. We'll ask about your site, your timeline, your hopes for the home, and your budget envelope. You'll leave with a one-page read on feasibility, our honest take on whether we're the right studio, and — if it feels right — a path forward with a paid site visit.
02. Do you only design in the Rocky Mountains?
Most of our work is in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, but we'll take on fire-adapted projects anywhere in the western US. We have a small bench of trusted regional architects we partner with for permitting and engineering when a project sits outside our licensed states.
03. How is "fire-wise" built into your work?
Every plan we draft starts with a defensible-space analysis and a wildfire exposure review before a single line is drawn. We specify non-combustible envelopes in high-hazard zones, design for ember resistance at every vent and eave, and partner with a fire ecologist on homes within the WUI.
04. What's the typical project budget you work within?
Our sweet spot is custom homes and retreats in the $650K – $3.2M construction range, with full design packages usually falling between 8% and 12% of construction cost. We've designed thoughtful cabins below that range and have a small studio partner for modest projects — ask us, we'll be straight about fit.
05. Can I work with you if I don't yet own land?
Yes — about a third of our clients come to us before they've found a site. We offer a paid Land Study engagement: a half-day with a regional broker, our site advisor, and a sketchbook. You'll leave with three candidate parcels and a clear read on each.
